What it is
The Fiamma F80S is a roof-mounted wind-out awning. It bolts to the roof of the van (not the side wall, like the F45 range) and winds out to give a shaded, sheltered area alongside the van.
The case is Fiamma's Alu-Lite aluminium, chosen to be light and stiff, and the low-profile shape keeps wind resistance down when you are driving. The canopy is a washable, UV-resistant multilayer vinyl.
Seven lengths cover everything from a short van (290cm, 5.6m² of shade) up to the longest LWB+ builds (450cm, 10.8m²). Three case colours: Polar White, Deep Black or Titanium.
It is operated with the supplied hand crank, and can be upgraded later with an optional Fiamma electric motor kit. Optional LED lighting can be fitted to both the lead bar and the rear casing for evening use, and the awning is compatible with Fiamma's Privacy Room systems if you later want to close the space in.
Why we sell it
For most roof-mount conversions, this is the awning we point people toward.
- Roof-mounted suits a van. A roof mount works on vans where the side wall has no good fixing line, and it sits the awning above door height. It needs a van-specific bracket kit (see above), but it is the cleaner result.
- Low profile, genuinely. The slim case does not turn the van into a sail on the motorway and does not dominate the roofline.
- Washable vinyl canopy. A van awning gets dirty. Multilayer vinyl wipes and washes clean; an acrylic canopy does not.
It is a serious bit of kit at a serious price. Get the length and the bracket right, and it is the kind of upgrade you fit once and stop thinking about.
Choosing your awning
- Length. Measure your van's clear roof fixing length first. 290-320cm suits a short or medium-wheelbase van, 340-400cm a long-wheelbase, 425-450cm the longest vans. The awning must not overhang past the back of the van or foul the cab.
- Case colour. Polar White is the classic look and the lightest in heat. Deep Black is the current trend choice and disappears against a dark or grey van. Titanium is the mid grey-silver, a quieter alternative to black. Deep Black is made in Royal Grey fabric only.
- Fabric. Royal Grey is the neutral — hides marks. Royal Blue is the brighter option, available with Polar White and Titanium cases.
- Bracket kit. The F80S does not fit any van without a van-specific bracket kit. This is a separate purchase. Use the Fit Finder to add the right kit for your van, or browse all bracket kits by van.

Fitting it
- You need the bracket kit first. The F80S mounts on a van-specific bracket kit. Buy the awning and the matching kit together; without the kit you cannot fit it.
- Roof strength and fixing line. The roof has to take the load and you need a clear straight fixing run. On most vans the bracket kit handles this; on a bare roof it means drilling and sealing.
- It is a two-person lift. Weight ranges from 27kg (290cm) up to 36.5kg (450cm) — fitting the awning to the roof is not a solo job at any length.
- Sealant. Any roof penetration is bedded and sealed with polyurethane sealant. A roof leak is the worst-case mistake.
- Tension and wind. Once fitted, the lead arms can be re-tensioned over time. For overnight or windy use, add the Fiamma Tie-Down Kit; for heavy rain, the Rafter accessory stops the canopy pooling water.
Per-van fitting guides are linked below. None of this is beyond a methodical first-timer with a helper for the lift, but if drilling the roof is a step too far, a local installer will fit a supplied awning in a few hours.

How it compares
vs Fiamma F45s
The Fiamma F45s is wall/side-mounted — it fits almost any van and is the go-to for the VW Transporter and smaller, flat-sided campers, plus the easier-to-reach choice on very tall roofs. The F80S is roof-mounted and low-profile, which suits high-roof panel vans (Sprinter, Crafter, Ducato). Their sizes overlap, so on a big van either can work — choose on where your van takes the fixing, not just its size.
vs Thule Omnistor 6300
The closest premium roof-mount rival. The Thule is well regarded and generally quieter in wind; it is also pricier. The F80S is the value-to-quality pick and has the wider UK bracket-kit support.
