CTA Smart Kit for VW Crafter - Off-axis Belt Frame
The CTA Smart Kit is an approved seatbelt frame that lets you add a forward-facing twin (2-person) travel seat with integrated 3-point belts in the rear of a 2017-onward VW Crafter or MAN TGE.

The "off-axis" frame is offset so its support strut runs along the chassis spar to one side, freeing usable floor space beside the seat (it's the UK right-hand-drive version, designed to sit behind the driver). It bolts to the chassis with the supplied brackets and fixings — no welding — and arrives with the belts already mounted.

"Vantastic. Lee kept in touch throughout the build with phone calls / video calls this is how a business should be ran. There is no communication between companies nowadays they should take note from start to the finished fit out excellent workmanship thanks Lee"
Yes — it provides a properly anchored, forward-facing 3-point belted travel seat. CTA state all Smart Kit components are approved to current regulations, and the equivalent CTA frame in this series is type-approved to ECE R14 (anchorages) in the M1 passenger category. Legal compliance depends on it being installed to the chassis exactly per CTA's instructions.
Is it crash-tested?
It's a type-approved seatbelt anchorage — approval to ECE R14 involves load and strength testing of the anchorage. CTA's own wording is "approved according to current regulations" rather than a published crash-test certificate, so that's how we describe it.
Can I use child seats or ISOFIX?
Yes. The seats take standard 3-point belts (so belt-positioning child seats work), and CTA offer an optional ISOFIX kit made specifically for this off-axis double frame to add rigid ISOFIX anchor points.
Does it need welding?
No — it's a bolt-in kit using the supplied floor anchoring brackets and chassis fixing screws, designed to mount along the vehicle's chassis spar.
How many seats and belts is it?
It's the double version: a 2-seat forward-facing frame with two integrated 3-point belts.
What does "off-axis" mean?
The frame's support strut is offset to one side along the spar rather than centred, which keeps floor and storage space free beside the seat. You pair the frame with a compatible forward-facing twin bench or seat cushions.
Should it be professionally fitted?
We strongly recommend it. This is a safety-critical structural anchorage that must be bolted to the chassis exactly per CTA's instructions to keep its approval — so professional installation is the norm for belted travel seats, and we can fit it as part of a VANZ conversion.
