The Truma Combi D 4 E heats the living space AND your hot water from one compact diesel-fired unit — ideal for year-round campervan and motorhome use. It heats on diesel (staged up to 4 kW) drawn from the van's own fuel, with a built-in 230V electric element for quiet, fuel-free warmth on a mains hook-up — or run both together for the fastest warm-up. A 10-litre boiler gives ample hot water, all controlled from the supplied Truma iNet X panel or the free Bluetooth app.

Frequently asked questions

Diesel or gas — why the diesel Combi D4E?

It runs on diesel from your van's own fuel supply (or a separate tank), so there are no gas bottles to store, refill or swap — handy for self-builds and full-time travel. Heating and hot-water performance match the gas Combi 4E.

How much hot water does it give?

It has a 10-litre boiler heated by the same burner. From cold (15°C) the water reaches about 60°C in roughly 20–24 minutes — enough for washing up and showers for two — and it reheats as you use it.

What is the electric element for?

The "E" is a built-in 230V heating element (900W or 1800W). On a mains hook-up you can heat on electricity instead of diesel — silent and fuel-free — or combine diesel and electric together ("mixed mode", up to ~3.8 kW) for the quickest warm-up.

Can I control it from my phone?

Yes. The package includes the Truma iNet X panel, and the free Truma iNet X app connects over Bluetooth so you can set temperature, hot water and timers from your phone or tablet. Add the iNet X Connect module for remote access when you are away from the van.

Can I fit it myself, or do I need a professional?

A diesel combi involves a fuel take-off, a flue through the floor or wall, a 230V mains connection and FrostControl plumbing. Confident self-builders do fit them, but professional installation is strongly recommended — and fitting to Truma's instructions is required to keep the warranty valid. We can supply and fit it as part of a VANZ conversion.

What does it come with, and what else will I need?

The iNet X package includes the unit, iNet X panel and 6 m cable, the diesel exhaust/flue kit with wall cowl, a warm-air duct kit, the FrostControl valve, fuel line, take-off, terminals and instructions. You will usually still need extra warm-air ducting and outlets to suit your layout.

What warranty does it have?

Covered by Truma's manufacturer warranty — 2 years as standard, extendable to 5 years when you register the product with Truma and it's installed and maintained to their instructions. Register your unit after fitting to activate the extended cover.
