What it is
The SkyMaxx is a 400 x 400mm rooflight: a domed skylight that lets daylight into the van and opens for ventilation.
It suits both new installations and replacing an existing rooflight, and it fits roof thicknesses from 23mm to 60mm directly, with no cutting or adapter rings needed in that range.
It has a manual lift with three set opening positions, an integrated pleated blind and flyscreen, and interchangeable vented and non-vented panels so you can run forced or natural ventilation.
Two versions: the standard SkyMaxx, and the SkyMaxx Plus which adds an integrated 12V LED light.
Why we sell it
If you want daylight and air in the van without a fuss, the SkyMaxx does it well and does it cheaply.
- No cutting for most roofs. Across the common 23-60mm roof thickness range it fits without spacer rings or adapters. That removes the most fiddly part of a rooflight install.
- Blind and screen built in. A pleated blackout blind and a flyscreen are integrated. No separate blind kit to buy or fit.
- The Plus earns its money. If this rooflight is going where you also want a light, the Plus with its integrated LED saves fitting a separate fixture and wiring it in separately.
One thing to be clear on: this is a rooflight, not a powered fan. For forced extraction you want the MaxxFan, and plenty of builds fit one of each.
Choosing standard or Plus
- SkyMaxx standard: daylight, ventilation, blind and screen. Choose this where you do not need a light, or already have lighting in that area.
- SkyMaxx Plus: everything the standard has, plus an integrated 12V DC LED (2A). Choose this where the rooflight is also your light source. It needs a 12V feed; the standard does not.

SkyMaxx vs Dometic Mini Heki
The honest comparison most customers want. Both are reputable UK campervan rooflights at similar price points; the trade-off is which fits your build best.
| Feature | SkyMaxx Plus 400 Single SKU fits 23-60mm | Mini Heki Plus 400 25-42mm or 43-60mm |
|---|---|---|
| Roof thickness range | 23 to 60mm in a single SKU | 25 to 42mm OR 43 to 60mm, pick one |

| Vented option | Interchangeable panel, supplied together | Forced ventilation variant, separate SKU |

If you are not sure of your roof thickness until you cut it, the SkyMaxx's single-SKU range is a meaningful advantage.

Fitting it
- Roof thickness. Confirm your roof build is within 23-60mm. Within that range it fits directly. A thicker insulated false roof falls outside it and needs a different approach.
- Cut-out. For a new install you cut a 400 × 400mm opening. If you are replacing an existing rooflight, check the old cut-out size; SkyMaxx is 400 × 400mm and other brands' cut-outs may differ.
- Sealant. Bed it on butyl tape and seal the flange with polyurethane sealant. A roof leak ruins the interior below.
- Plus model wiring. The Plus LED needs a 12V DC feed (2A) to the leisure circuit. The standard model needs no wiring.
- Condensation. On cold nights some condensation can form on the inside of any domed rooflight. Good van ventilation — which is what a MaxxFan is for — reduces it.

How it compares
vs Dometic Mini Heki
The Mini Heki is the long-standing UK favourite and has a strong reputation, especially the blind quality. The SkyMaxx is the keener-priced option and the no-cut 23-60mm fitment is genuinely easier. Honest trade-off: the Mini Heki's blackout blind is generally regarded as the better blind.
vs a Fiamma Vent
Fiamma Vents are light and cheap but more basic. The SkyMaxx's integrated blind, screen and three-position lift are a step up.
vs the MaxxFan Deluxe
Different jobs. The SkyMaxx is a rooflight (light and natural air); the MaxxFan is a powered extractor fan. Many builds fit one of each.
